When we were carving pumpkins last week Curtis asked me if we were keeping any of the seeds as we cleaned them. I said no, and then quickly changed my mind.
I figured there had to be some crafts involving pumpkin seeds! I was thinking about it and came up with drawing out a tree and branches, and having the pumpkin seeds as the leaves. Curtis’ sister said it would also be cool to make a pumpkin shaped out of seeds! I hadn’t even looked on Pinterest yet when we came up with those, and they are the first two things to come up when you search “pumpkin seed crafts” so I guess we weren’t the only ones with the idea!
We got as many seeds cleaned up as we could and I baked them in the oven the next today just to dry them up. They need to be cleaned reaaaaaaally well and since they were still wet the next day, I figured a little heat in the oven would do the trick.
TIP: I recommend using stock paper for this one. We don’t have any right now so I taped a couple pieces of construction paper together so that the glue wouldn’t soak through.
Nova painted all of the seeds orange and then added a pine cone and a leaf to the top to finish off her pumpkin! We went on a hike today and she brought a bag to collect things she found along the way. Great items to add into her craft! She said she wanted to the use the pine cone as the stem, super smart 😛
